We are looking for an Accounting Manager for a contract position in Pell City, Alabama. The role is within the manufacturing industry and involves overseeing accounting functions. Responsibilities:Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP standards.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, procurement, and sales, to streamline processes and drive efficiencies in financial operations.Prepare financial analyses, forecasts, and budgets to support strategic planning and decision-making.Stay updated on industry trends, accounting regulations, and best practices to continuously improve financial processes and systems.Utilize SAP ERP system to optimize accounting workflows, generate reports, and analyze financial data.Oversee general ledger (G/L) activities, including chart of accounts maintenance, journal entry review, and reconciliation of G/L accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.Manage fixed asset accounting processes, including capitalization, depreciation, and impairment testing, as well as maintaining fixed asset subledger and reconciliation to the general ledger.Lead lease accounting activities in compliance with ASC 842, including lease classification, accounting treatment, and financial statement disclosures.Ensure compliance with sales and use tax regulations by overseeing the timely and accurate preparation, filing, and payment of sales and use tax returns.Review and approve journal entries prepared by accounting staff, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to GAAP principles.Coordinate month-end close activities, including preparation and review of financial statements, accruals, and other adjusting entries to meet reporting deadlines.Perform account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving reconciling items in a timely manner.
