Riverview Health is Hiring a Medical Interpreter Near Noblesville, IN

Job Summary

The Medical Interpreter provides direct patient care in a physician office setting and accurately and effectively interprets information between the provider and the patient as required. The Medical Interpreter assists in maintaining the office, answers the phone, schedules and checks in patients and stocks supplies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform required phlebotomy, venipuncture, cleansing wounds/lesions sites according to CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act 1988) requirements. Provide accurate and timely education to each patient.
  • Maintain waiting room, examination rooms, lab rooms, offices and order supplies as required.
  • Work in the front office as needed for patient check in, answering phones, chart organization, and scheduling appointments. Receive payments from patients for services.
  • Contribute to team building through the support of management decisions and participating in performance improvement activities.

When interpreting:

  • Render correct concepts and meanings between the speakers, maintaining correct grammar, clarity, and tone between languages.
  • Closely follow client instructions, professionally interject only when additional clarity or repetition is required and manage the flow of the conversation. 
  • Process information quickly, with great accuracy and sensitivity to cultural differences.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and always adhere to industry best practices in every interaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

Minimum: 

  • High School diploma equivalency with two (2) years of cumulative experience OR associate’s degree/Technical degree OR four (4) years of applicable cumulative job specific experience.
  • Forty-hour training certificate in Medical Interpreting or be Nationally certified.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum: Two (2) years as a professional interpreter

License/Certification Requirements

  • Minimum: Bridge the Gap or national certification. 
  • Preferred: Certified Interpreter credentialed from the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters or Translator credentialed from the American Translators Association.
  • Basic Life Safety (American Heart Association) within 60 days of start date
