Description
SUMMARY: This is a full-time, 12 month position. The Communications/ Social Media Manager supports Richard Allen Preparatory Charter School's mission statement and strategic objectives and is accountable and responsible to assist the school in planning, developing and implementing communications activities, including social media content management and digital marketing; building and maintaining effective relations with the media, the school family and the community; and producing official school publications. The chosen candidate will provide strategic leadership and insight to help achieve institutional outcomes, including but not limited to increasing enrollment and advancing our community school mission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned) :
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field required. five years of directly applicable experience preferred; or, Bachelor's degree in Public Relations or related field preferred; one to two years of Marketing experience; strong writing skills, strong knowledge of social media and the ability to learn new platforms, strong oral communication skills; familiarity with digital technology including Web site content management, E-newsletter production, Google Analytics, and Search Engine advertising; familiarity with publication production and digital journalistic photography experience.
PC/Technical Skills: High level knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; digital photography, editing platforms and project management software.

COMMUNICATION/LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to: write in a clear, concise manner with adherence to journalistic standards and in conjunction with social media best practices; communicate effectively, orally and in writing; and, work well independently and as a team member.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to: perform basic math functions and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to: solve practical problems; deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; and, interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. The individual must have a strong time management and project timeline orientation that goes beyond logic and includes a tangible process(es) to demonstrate proficiency.
