Richard Allen Preparatory Charter School is Hiring a Communications/Social Media Manager Near Philadelphia, PA

Description

SUMMARY: This is a full-time, 12 month position. The Communications/ Social Media Manager supports Richard Allen Preparatory Charter School's mission statement and strategic objectives and is accountable and responsible to assist the school in planning, developing and implementing communications activities, including social media content management and digital marketing; building and maintaining effective relations with the media, the school family and the community; and producing official school publications. The chosen candidate will provide strategic leadership and insight to help achieve institutional outcomes, including but not limited to increasing enrollment and advancing our community school mission.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned) :

  • Serve as a Social Media Manager, keeping the official social media platforms, up to date. Coordinate the content of the social network pages on the RAPCS Web site. Provide training to departments on social media best practices.
  • Ensure that communication aligns with the recommended practices as outlined in the communications plan. Provide training to staff to create awareness and increase effective communication.
  • Conduct the development and production of digital marketing activities including E-newsletters for employees, the community and other publications; Web site updates; digital research (Web site surveys, Google Analytics, etc.); and Search Engine advertising.
  • Assist with and review editorials (internal and external) to support marketing campaigns and promotional events. Serve on school committees as assigned.
  • Partner with the Executive Director and team in building and maintaining effective media relations at the local and regional levels. Gather school news, write and digitally distribute news releases and feature stories for RAPCS publications, the Web site, digital marketing campaigns, and for local and regional media. Take digital photographs, process them and send the photos online to the media, and the school community. Maintain news and advertisement clippings, and distribute them digitally to the school community and other targeted publics.
  • Assist in the production of official school publications including board reports, brochures and other materials. Duties include planning, writing and producing materials on-time and within the school's budget. Work with printers to ensure publications are completed per the school's specifications. Proofread school publications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field required. five years of directly applicable experience preferred; or, Bachelor's degree in Public Relations or related field preferred; one to two years of Marketing experience; strong writing skills, strong knowledge of social media and the ability to learn new platforms, strong oral communication skills; familiarity with digital technology including Web site content management, E-newsletter production, Google Analytics, and Search Engine advertising; familiarity with publication production and digital journalistic photography experience.

PC/Technical Skills: High level knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; digital photography, editing platforms and project management software.

Supplemental Information

COMMUNICATION/LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to: write in a clear, concise manner with adherence to journalistic standards and in conjunction with social media best practices; communicate effectively, orally and in writing; and, work well independently and as a team member.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to: perform basic math functions and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to: solve practical problems; deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; and, interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. The individual must have a strong time management and project timeline orientation that goes beyond logic and includes a tangible process(es) to demonstrate proficiency.
