Ricardo Defense has a rewarding position in our Sterling Heights, MI manufacturing facility for a Plant Controller. This Plant Controller provides overall direction and guidance for plant financial and accounting functions and controls, ensuring consistency in financial reporting and processes, reporting areas of concern and identifying and recommending areas of opportunity for improvement. 

The successful Plant controller will support the overall profitability and operational success by performing strong analytical and variance review of facility-wide productivity, inventory reduction, adherence to budget and by directing the accounting functions and related controls through accurate and timely financial reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee plant financial accounting reporting processes including data upload to Corporate to ensure the integrity of financial accounting statement
• Analyze plant capital budgets to ensure consistency with capital policy and achievement of financial results
• Complete and analyze financial and statistical reports that reflect plant financial position and KPI’s, perform cost and operating variance analyses to identify root causes in variances and partner with other managers to identify areas for improvement
• Support annual plant-wide physical inventory counts, daily cycle counts and perform analysis of variance identified during inventory cycle counts and annual physical inventory to maintain inventory costs to budgeted levels
• Record receivables and reconcile monthly bank statements
• Manage the weekly payment to vendors and ensure payment terms are met
• Facilitate the annual audit process for the plant with external and internal auditors as well as complete half year statistical data upload to Corporate to ensure the integrity of financial accounting entity position
• Continuously seek to maximize resources and provide guidance on data analytics and plant metrics for continuous improvement and best practice in overall cost recognition and control efforts
• Maintain the fixed assets and government property of the company to include recording and tagging new assets, record keeping of obsolete and/or salvaged asset, proper journalizing of monthly depreciation and following government required recordkeeping as listed in FAR part 31.205-16 and part 45
• Other tasks as may be directed by management

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited college or university
• A minimum of five years of SAP manufacturing experience within a manufacturing environment
• A minimum of 10 years of overall relevant experience in finance or accounting
• Must be able to obtain a United States Government Secret Clearance. Minimum requirement to obtain a clearance is United States Citizenship
• Sponsorship for this position is not provided
• Strong knowledge cost accounting, Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) is required
• Government accounting desired
• Solid analytical, planning, organizing and interpretive skills are essential
• Qualified applicant must have a high sense of personal ethics and integrity and possess solid communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills for regular ongoing interactions with plant management, staff and corporate executive management
• Ability to collaborate and develop a high-performing peer team 
• Highly organized, action-oriented and results-driven 
• Must be proficient in MS Office EXCEL, Word and Outlook
• Familiarity with ERP system conversion and SAP is a must
