Rhode Island Hospital is Hiring a Practice Mgr Near Providence, RI

Summary:

Reports to the Director of Clinical Operations � Adult Ambulatory Care and performs under general direction from the designated physician leadership of the designated clinical specialty/site. Manages the administrative financial and operational aspects of selected hospital-based dental practice. Responsible for the day-to-day operations.

Works closely with the clinicians to ensure they are receiving sufficient support to achieve practice objectives. Provides supervision to non-clinical staff and operational supervision to clinical staff (excluding physicians).

Responsibilities:

Participates in program development implementation and evaluation of the Division of Adult Ambulatory Services primarily for but not limited to Samuel�s Dental Clinic. Monitors effectiveness of practice operations; recommends changes for approval; implements approved changes as appropriate. Defines and assures that these programs comply with policies and procedures as established by RIH and JCAHO.

Collaborates with peer Practice Managers within Adult Ambulatory and other Lifespan managers to both learn and share best practices. Active participant in practice-related meetings of relevant clinical departments. Prepares materials for those meetings as requested.

Participates in or leads various teams related to quality improvement focusing on principles of a patient centered care.

Advises department director and/or physicians of actual or potential problems related to regulatory compliance. Implements approved programs to ensure compliance.

Participates with the director and clinicians in the development and /or modification of policies and procedures. Ensures staff adheres to the policies.

Ensures all activities meet or exceed customer expectations. Develops maintains and enhances relationships with others within and outside the practices including practice staff patients and families vendors and others within Lifespan and outside of Lifespan.

Establishes mechanism to encourage evidence-based practice incorporating research findings into standards of practice policies and procedures.

Preserves and protects patient and employee rights to confidentiality.

Effectively manages the Human Resources function. Recruits new staff members conducts performance evaluations including recommending corrective action and manages employee improvement plans. Provides for continuing development of staff and conducts staff meetings regularly to ensure that new and/or changed policies and procedures are communicated and that operational issues are addressed. Maintains files including current licensures etc. for clinicians and support staff. Knowledgeable of union contract language and uses it when necessary.

Assigns work schedules and provides for appropriate coverage in event of planned and unplanned absences. Conducts performance evaluations of staff including recommending corrective action to Human Resources department director and clinical management up to and including termination. Provides for continuing development of staff as appropriate.

Develops coordinates and maintains effective provider and staff schedules.

Ensures effectiveness and accuracy of billing processes cash control management including but not limited to copay collections. Responds in a timely manner to requests from the billing company(s) third party payers and credentialing.

In collaboration with the administrative director and physicians participates in the development of the operating budgets and capital budgets. Makes recommendations for staff and equipment deemed necessary to meet anticipated needs and/ or compliance with safety needs.

Monitors revenue and expenses budget vs actuals and researches and explains variances in budgets. Prepares check requests and purchase orders for supplies subscriptions memberships maintenance agreements and the like.

Develops and maintains tracking mechanisms to appropriately document requests including but not limited to check requests billing requests etc. Researches and resolves issues with timely follow-up.
Provides for the maintenance and repair of the division�s equipment request service as appropriate and within level of authority. Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment; reorders as appropriate to meet anticipated needs. Investigates reasons for delays; informs others of causes. Distributes inventories as appropriate; ensures proper storage of same. Reconciles materials received against order and invoice.

Performs other duties as assigned.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

Bachelor�s degree in management business administration or health care administration preferred or a minimum of 5 years related experience in the management or administration in a hospital setting.


EXPERIENCE:

Dental management experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to manager office operation and supervise staff effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong working knowledge of computer business applications. Ability to select and implement technological innovations and to manager practice-wide change efforts.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is performed in a typical medical office setting requiring extensive sitting standing and walking.

INDEPENDENT ACTION:

Functions independently within established guidelines. Works in collaboration with department director/physicians.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Supervisory responsibility for up to 20 FTEs.
