Essential Functions of a Sonographer

• Operate imaging equipment, and review images to be sure they are of good quality and helpful for diagnosis
• Identify normal and abnormal imaging results, communicating a summary of the results to physicians or other health professionals, and alerting physicians to urgent problems
• Prepare patients for procedures and educate them throughout the ultrasound exam
• Review patient medical history, record imaging results in patient records, and coordinate care with various departments within the hospital or clinic

Required Education and Experience

• ARDMS Certification
• Current BLS Certification

Preferred Education and Experience

• High proficiency of PC systems, tools, and applications.
