Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Facilities Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of facility/campus, laboratory, and automated order fulfillment equipment. This includes traditional facilities maintenance, plus installation, troubleshooting, preventive & corrective maintenance, monitoring, and adjustment of lab equipment, including: centrifuges, incubators, plate washers, plate readers, shakers, biosafety cabinets, fume hoods, balances, spectrophotometers, autoclaves, vacuum pumps, refrigerated equipment. It also includes responsibility to coordinate vendors to maintain the campus buildings, including structural, electrical, emergency generators, mechanical, HVAC, deionized water systems, plumbing, temperature monitoring systems, compressed air, CO2 & vacuum distribution systems, RODI systems, and other building systems. The technician must understand and enforce EHS standards, including general, industrial, chemical, and biohazard safety. Must quickly build supportive professional relationships with lab and administrative employees, service providers, and contractors, while conducting daily business in accordance with applicable Quality Program standards and regulatory compliance.

  • Ability to understand, troubleshoot, source parts, and repair various types of facility, laboratory, and order fulfillment equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks and repairs in a fast-paced, technical environment.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills while exceeding expectations of internal customers to provide efficient and timely response to trouble calls.
  • Work effectively with outside vendors and contractors. Monitor and evaluate work performed. Be accountable for quality, efficiency, cost, and timely completion.
  • Ability to perform successfully within the guidelines of rigorous Quality Assurance and Preventive Maintenance programs, including quality of work and administrative requirements.
  • Well organized. Must precisely follow established maintenance steps and document via handheld devices. Basic computer skills, MS Office familiarity, and ability to learn new programs mandatory.
  • Other projects or responsibilities as may be required.

Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience
  • High School graduate
  • Minimum five years of experience in facility maintenance, lab equipment installation & repair
Preferred Qualifications - Education and Experience
  • Two years or more combined college and/or technical school.
  • Professional certification in a relevant technical trade such as HVAC, control systems, automation, plumbing, fire safety, or electrical.
  • Five years or more experience that includes facility maintenance, lab equipment installation & repair, with additional experience in automated controls
The base salary range for this full-time position is $34-$39/hour. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company. This base pay range does not take into account bonuses, equity, or other benefits which may be applicable and are dependent on the level and position offered.
Work Environment & Physical Demands - Lab
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a laboratory environment with occasional data entry on a computer. Occasional exposure to a warehouse environment.
