Retreat Behavioral Health is Hiring a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, ARNP Near New Haven, CT

Psychiatric NP,

16 hours a week. Flexible Monday to Friday.

Summary:

A dynamic, internally motivated professional who will function in a role to provide medical services as per state guidelines and in collaboration with Medical Director and Director of Nursing to ensure continuity of care to the patient. Performs acts of medical diagnosis and prescription of medical therapeutic or corrective measures as licensure allows. Responsibilities include general medical and psychiatric coverage that reflects new or ongoing medical problems and initial evaluations. These may include: medical histories, physical exams, mental status evaluations, assessments, admission orders, and acute and chronic medication management. Psychiatric problems and needs will be addressed with the assistance and guidance of the Medical Director. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s age specific needs and provides age specific treatment and care. Knowledge of addiction, gathering and interpreting information about dependence, the natural history of dependence, as well as the bio-psychosocial influences and effects of dependencies is required. Understanding the range of treatments needed, the range of treatments available, as well as the appropriate use of therapeutic interventions.

Qualifications:

Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner: Master’s Degree in Nursing and ANCC certified CRNP preferred in the state of employment. The CRNP’s scope of practice will be within the scope of practice as defined by all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, protocols, etc. and within the individual nurse practitioner’s particular clinical specialty area, licensure and competency level.

Clinical experience in Psychiatric is required. 2 years of Behavioral Health experience preferred. Current CPR certification. Active and unrestricted license and DEA number. Ability to have coverage by facility malpractice insurance provider.

Working knowledge of ASAM criteria and clinical assessment process and training and working knowledge of state level criteria. Good facilitation skills, and the ability to participate as an effective team member. Understanding of human behavior in the process required to facilitate change. Excellent writing skills as well as the ability to produce comprehensive documentation, including measurable objectives-reports. Must have excellent skills in verbal communication, good organization and time management skills, and familiarity and competency with personal computer applications. The initial assessment of these qualifications will be conducted during pre-hire interview by senior management staff members.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse: Master’s Degree in Nursing and ANCC certified APRN preferred in the state of employment. The APRN’s scope of practice will be within the scope of practice as defined by all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, protocols, etc. and within the individual nurse practitioner’s particular clinical specialty area, licensure and competency level.

Clinical experience in Addiction’s Medicine is preferred. 2 years of Behavioral Health experience preferred. Current CPR certification. Active and unrestricted license and DEA number. Ability to have coverage by facility malpractice insurance provider.
