Description 2024 DESKTOP SUPPORT INTERNSHIP Resources for the Future is an independent, nonprofit research institution in Washington, DC. Our mission is to improve environmental, energy, and natural resource decisions through impartial economic research and policy engagement. We are looking for an IT Desktop Support Intern to join our IT team for the summer.
This position is in-person at our offices in Washington DC. There are options for teleworking days, but it is not eligible for 100% remote work. Responsibilities: The Desktop Support Intern will provide support to the IT team in the following areas:
- Assist the IT team providing technical support, troubleshooting computer software and hardware issues.
- Assist organizing and maintaining RFF computers and systems.
- Support the IT team creating and updating systems documentation for users.
- Assist with internal staff meetings, troubleshooting AV and online connectivity issues to MS Teams, Zoom and other online platforms.
- Assist and collaborate with IT projects under the guidance and supervision of senior IT staff.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Attitude, aptitude, and adaptability to learn new technologies.
- Collaboration, teamwork, and initiative.
- Effective communication skills.
- Proficiency in Windows 10, Windows 11, and Microsoft 365 knowledge is a plus.
- Computer hardware, software setup, and configuration skills.
- Basic network knowledge and skills.
- Physical ability and strength. The role requires mobility and may involve lifting up to 40lbs. occasionally.
- Availability to work on-site in our Washington, DC office, from Monday to Friday, up to 35 hours per week for at least 3 months.
This internship can offer you the added knowledge to help complete your education requirements as well as experience to land a career in today's competitive market. This internship offers flexible hours within a Monday-Friday, 9-5 workweek, from a 20-hour minimum part-time position to a 35-hour full-time position. Hourly/Stipend pay. The position begins immediately and is a three (3) month commitment with a possibility of extension.
