About the Position:

The Human Resource Specialist is responsible for comprehensive support related to the routine administration of Human Resources which includes recruitment/selection activities, benefits administration, and all other related functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the recruitment and selection process.
  • Review employment applications and resumes to match applicants with job requirements.
  • Perform searches for qualified job candidates, using sources such as computer databases, networking, job fairs, recruiting firms and employee referrals.
  • Screens applicants by performing telephone and in person interviews.
  • Inform job applicants of details such as duties and responsibilities, compensation, benefits, schedules, working conditions, or promotion opportunities.
  • Select qualified applicants and make hiring recommendations when appropriate.
  • Conduct reference and background checks on applicants.
  • Hire employees and process hiring-related paperwork.
  • Schedule or conduct new employee orientations.
  • Administer employee benefits.
  • Prepare or maintain employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resources management system software.
  • Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.
  • Coordinate processing of workers’ compensation claims, and OSHA reporting.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Perform research and assist the Director of HR in a variety of special projects such as wellness and training initiatives; serve as back-up HRIS system administrator.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications or Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/ GED required, with an associate degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2-5 years successful work experience in Human Resources is required.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
