About the job
The Red Hat Americas Accounting team is looking for a North America (NA)-based Senior Revenue Accountant to join us in Raleigh, NC or remotely. In this role, you will be a member of a team responsible for revenue accounting for contracts with Red Hat’s customers in accordance with the U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). You will report directly to the Senior Manager of revenue accounting and work cross-functionally with the Accounting, Finance, Sales and Sales Operations, Products and Technologies (PnT), Legal, and Order Management teams. As a Senior Revenue Accountant, you’ll need to have excellent communication and organization skills and attention to detail. You’ll collaborate across Red Hat, which will be key to your success. You’ll also need to be able to analyze data and effectively present findings and business insight to your stakeholders. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Legal, Sales, Sales Operations, Credit, and Global Revenue teams in structuring and reviewing revenue contracts providing sound technical accounting guidance
- Provide booking guidance to our order entry team
- Read and interpret detailed contracts to ensure adherence to company policies and resolve any revenue issues
- Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and other control activities
- Perform trend analysis
- Resolve customer issues
- Provide booking guidance to our Order Entry and Credit teams
- Participate in testing activities related to the ASC 606
What you will bring
Required Experience:
- 5 years of relevant work experience
- Recent experience related to the new Revenue Recognition Guidance, ASC 606
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or finance; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification is a plus
- Solid analytical abilities with advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Result-oriented and comfortable working on your own in a high-paced environment
- Experience in internal and external stakeholder customer management
- Ability to take direction and work on your own to complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner
- Experience with Salesforce.com (SFDC), Oracle, or RevStream is a plus
