Red Dot Corporation, the leading producer of premium mobile HVAC units and components for heavy-duty commercial and military vehicles, is recruiting for the following position: Designer 

Summary Description: 

Prepare designs of components to be used in conjunction with heaters or heater/AC systems. This may also include preparing designs of simple heater units under the direction of a senior individual. Will take designs developed through completion which may include such items as prototype development, testing and final documentation.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions): 

· Prepare clear complete and accurate detailed models, drawings and schematics from sketches, prototypes or production parts according to established specifications and company standards.

· Prepare drawings using existing or created solid 3D models from installed CAD program.

· Create 3D solid models from existing 2D documentation as required.

· Transcribes dimensions to drawings in conformance with SAE and departmental standards.

· Uses calculators and math abilities to determine relations of parts to each other or to whole units.

· Analyze various design requirements and revise as appropriate.

· Modify existing 2D CAD or manual drawings as assigned.

· Follow-up on manufacturing requests to modify design specifications by interviewing production staff and observing production processes in order to recommend engineering changes.

· Prepare preliminary bills of materials.

· Assist in unit prototype development and testing as required. 

· Ability to interact and communicate effectively with peers, supervisors and upper management.

Requirements

Level Requirements (Minimum): 

Education

· Associates of Arts in drafting with a minimum of four (4) years Creo or similar 3D software training or equivalent experience.

Experience

· Ability to effectively use a personal computer with Creo or similar 3D software, AutoCAD, word processing and spread sheets. 

· Fundamental math skills in geometry and trigonometry

· Ability to conduct ordinary conversation to exchange information or provide assistance to others.

· The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

· Sufficient manual dexterity and motor control to use common drafting implements and calculators

Salary Grade** for this role is as follows:

$29.00 to $32.00, per hour, non-exempt.
