Job Summary:

As a Logistics Analyst at Reagent Chemical, you'll play a crucial role in analyzing and optimizing rail transportation operations to ensure the seamless movement of goods via rail networks. Collaborating closely with various teams, carriers, and stakeholders, you'll drive efficiency, uphold safety standards, and ensure timely delivery, all while adhering to regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  1. Rail Shipment Coordination: Schedule and coordinate rail shipments to align with customer demands, overseeing loading, transit, and unloading processes.
  2. Carrier Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for rail carriers, tracking shipments and resolving any transit-related issues promptly.
  3. Route Optimization: Identify and recommend optimal rail routes to minimize costs, transit times, and environmental impact.
  4. Freight Documentation: Prepare and manage all freight documentation, including bills of lading and customs paperwork, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  5. Freight Tracking: Utilize tracking systems to monitor rail shipments in real-time, providing timely updates to internal teams and customers.
  6. Inventory Management: Collaborate with inventory control teams to maintain accurate records of rail shipments and stock levels.
  7. Problem Resolution: Address delays, disruptions, or issues affecting rail operations, coordinating with relevant parties to find solutions swiftly.
  8. Maintenance Scheduling: Coordinate with internal teams and facilities to ensure mechanical qualifications are completed in a timely manner and maintain a steady workflow.
  9. Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data on rail transportation performance and costs, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  10. Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to align rail logistics with broader business objectives.
  11. Vendor Relationships: Cultivate positive relationships with rail carriers, partners, and customers.
  12. Emergency Response: Develop and execute contingency plans for unexpected disruptions or emergencies impacting rail operations.
  13. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancement and cost reduction within the rail logistics function.

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Industrial Engineering or Communications and a minimum of 2-years of rail experience in logistics or customer service is desired. For those candidates without a bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 5-years of manifest-rail experience is required.

Skills:

  • Previous experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain analysis
  • Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant logistics software
  • Strong technical competency in Excel for data analysis and reporting
  • Familiarity with Tableau, Microsoft BI, SQL, or similar software preferred
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Self-starter that demonstrates desire to grow professionally, making use of constructive feedback
  • Ability to reprioritize based on current dynamics
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately

Physical Demands

  • Site meetings may require the use of PPE and compliance with all safety rules
  • Travel requirements: Infrequent, less than 10%
