Full-time, (5) 8 hour shifts, M-F on-call.

Job Summary:

The Surgical Services Manager is responsible for leading the daily function in the Surgical Services setting with demonstrated expertise in surgical services nursing within pre/post op and/or intraoperative care. The position provides direction and leadership to ensure great patient care, can improve population health within an efficient cost structure, while improving the work life of providers and staff. Principle responsibilities include oversight of the daily operations by managing resources and creating an environment of staff accountability in order to deliver a high quality patient outcome.

The Surgical Services Manager serves as a role model promoting competent patient care and compliance with quality improvement programs. This position manages surgical schedules, staff schedules and organizational needs employing communication and effective collaboration with staff, surgeons, anesthesia personnel, and other nursing and non-nursing leaders to provide optimal patient care and flow.

Requirements:

• Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Missouri.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS or ability to obtain after being hired.
• Previous surgery manager/supervisor skills preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in collaboration with others.
• Effective communication skills.
• Leadership skills necessary.

Duties:

• Must be able to manage and oversee all processes related to the Surgical Department.
• Plans for and provides a staffing pattern, which meets patient care needs and supports primary nursing.
• Assist in communicating department/leadership decisions and policies to staff and physicians.
• Partners with Human Resources, interviews, hires, trains and evaluated staff.
• Must serve as a role model; demonstrate effective patient care, leadership and professional behavior,
• Participates in development of patient care policies and procedures.
