Raritan Valley Community College's Service Learning and Community Outreach program is committed to creating opportunities for college students volunteering in the community. This program helps increase high quality, project-focused volunteer time dedicated to the Somerset/Hunterdon region involving students in service learning courses, community-based research projects, Honors College, Internships and co-curricular activities to complete projects for nonprofits and local government that are established community partners with the College's nationally recognized Service Learning program.
We are seeking a qualified candidate to work with RVCC's Director of Service Learning and Community Outreach to recruit and support students and coordinate activities - an amazing opportunity for a dedicated candidate committed to the Somerset/Hunterdon region's promising future.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Carry out the annual plan of programs, practices and initiatives focused on RVCC's Service Learning nonprofit agencies, government offices, public schools, and other community and neighborhood organizations.
Identify and facilitate service learning placements for students.
Recruit and assist student volunteers through service learning courses, community-based projects, co-curricular activities, student clubs, internships and Honors College.
Facilitate placement of students with established service learning community partners.
Create and maintain spreadsheets for tracking students in service learning courses.
Communicate and collaborate with established Service Learning Program community partners who provide placements for students to ensure they are active and to explore new opportunities.
Make class presentations to explain program and recruit student volunteers.
Assist students with program forms for tracking their time and actions while volunteering in communities.
Manage student surveys.
Track all relevant program data.
Identify students to be recognized for their work through various awards and help prepare descriptions for social media.
Encourage students to present and attend annual statewide student conference.
Work with RVCC's Director of Service Learning and Community Outreach to maintain program compliance.
Comply with RVCC rules and regulations governing community engagement activities.
Improve the capacity of the program from the previous year.
Assist with other assigned duties as they develop.
Minimum of an Associate's Degree. Bachelor's Degree, preferred.
Experience with community engagement/volunteer/or non-profit organization work and public speaking as a student or a professional is a plus.
An interest in or experience working with students and/or community agencies in a voluntary capacity, and working with people of different identities, races, ethnicities, and backgrounds is a plus.
Schedule:
About 15 - 20 hours per week.
