The Immigrant Learning Center, Inc. is Hiring an Administrative Assistant Near Malden, MA

We recently hired someone for team and we have decided to hire an additional Administrative Assistant.

The Immigrant Learning Center, Inc. (“The ILC”) seeks a responsible Administrative Assistant to join our front office team. The duties of the Administrative Assistant include providing support to our employees, maintaining a welcoming environment for our students, and assisting with daily office needs and general administrative activities.

The ILC is a not-for-profit organization: our English Language Programs provide free, year-round English classes to immigrant and refugee adults in Greater Boston, and the Public Education Institute informs Americans about immigrants and immigration in the United States.

We offer:

  • Full-time position: 40 hours/week

  • 3 weeks of paid vacation per year
  • Paid holidays and sick

Responsibilities include:

  • Greet and welcome visitors using clear, simple language
  • Answer incoming phone calls using clear, simple language
  • Direct phone calls appropriately
  • Assist program staff with office supplies and supply requests
  • Explain the Center’s class program and structure to prospective students
  • Assist students registering for the Center’s classes.
  • Respond to and resolve administrative inquiries and questions.
  • Contribute to team effort by performing other tasks as needed, such as light bookkeeping as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Candidates must be fluent in English and comfortable interacting respectfully with non-native English speakers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of clerical procedures and systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • A minimum of one experience in an administrative role preferred
  • Knowledge of Haitian Creole is a positive
  • Work Authorization: must be authorized to work in the United State

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
