RadNet is Hiring a MRI Technologist - Signing Bonus! Near Westminster, MD

$7,500 signing bonus!

Schedule:Monday 12:30pm-9:00pm, Tuesday & Wednesday 8:30am-9:00pm with a monthly Saturday rotation and call for Carroll Hospital.A $5 shift differential applies after 5pm and supplemental pay is offered for working call.

The MRI Technologist is responsible for ensuring each individual's safety in the MR environment before entering the magnetic field. The person in this position responds to patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding personal health information, including but not limited to, patient diagnosis, health history, demographics, and referral information. The MRI Technologist is responsible for all paperwork associated with technical procedures and responds to physician questions and needs regarding patient procedures. Some technologists may work under the direct medical supervision of a physician during certain procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures the safety of patients, staff and visitors who come in contact with the powerful magnetic field of the MRI scanner.
  • Screens patients and other personnel entering the MRI scan room for contraindications prior to contact with the magnetic field.
  • Explains procedures, answer patient questions as completely as possible, and provides emotional support.
  • Accurately positions patients and coils on the MRI table according to exam protocol.
  • Sets appropriate technical parameters, operates MRI scanners and related equipment, reviews computer monitors for image data quality and takes appropriate corrective steps as needed.
  • Guides, monitors, and communicates with patients during the exam, which may take between 30 minutes and up to two hours or more to complete.
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to life threatening situations.
  • Assists in the education and MRI training of staff and/or externs.
  • Notates into RIS the referring physicians' instructions/diagnosis and relevant patient medical history, and scans appropriate forms as required.
  • Routinely checks scanners and related equipment for safety issues and cleanliness. Reports safety issues to the manager or MR specialist and cleans equipment as needed.
  • Keeps MR exam rooms and dressing booths clean and properly stocked with supplies.
  • Follows all safety procedures for self, patients, visitors, and equipment.
  • Educates new staff and students of any teaching institutions about the dangers of the MR environment and appropriate safety precautions.
  • Produces high quality diagnostic images in a timely manner while providing excellent patient care.
  • Treats patients and customers, including family members or care providers that may accompany the patient, with courtesy, professionalism, and respect.
  • Administers oral, rectal, and IV contrast as needed, in a safe and effective manner.
  • Monitors patients' well-being during scans; recognizes patient discomfort or medical problems and takes appropriate action.
  • Understands and uses the imaging parameters and technical adjustments available on the equipment in order to produce high quality images.
  • Checks patient history, and obtains appropriate signed waivers, if necessary.
  • Screens patients for contraindications for the use of gadolinium contrast material.
  • Consults with radiologist when necessary to determine appropriate scanning procedure.
  • Completes all paperwork and exam reports associated with technical procedures in a timely manner.
  • Responds to physician questions and needs regarding patients, and assists with interventional procedures as needed.
  • Checks referral for appropriate study based on patient history.
  • Assures room is ready prior to the patient entering the room (i.e. equipment is operable, all supplies are readily available and has been appropriately cleaned and prepped).
  • Handles delicate and unexpected situations in a supportive and empathetic manner (“good bedside manners”) while maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding exam outcomes or potential issues.
  • Keeps patient schedule and accommodates add-on patients when requested.
  • Communicates delays or changes in the schedule to the appropriate person(s).
  • Exercises sound judgment regarding image quality, seeks guidance from radiologist if concerned about what scan reveals and obtains prior approval before doing additional scans/views in order to better diagnose the patient's possible pathology.
  • Releases patient with proper follow-up information.
  • Provides films and/or CDs as requested by the patient or referring physician.
  • Conducts and documents daily, weekly and monthly QC and ACR testing.
  • Guides patients through a sometimes difficult process by kindly talking them through the steps and answering their questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process.
  • Participates in projects and completes other tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • Must have current ARRT(R)(MR) certification with State License in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology (CRT), or ARMRIT certification.
  • Must have training and certification in venipuncture for the injection of contrast media via butterfly needle and IV catheter.
  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have CPR certification.
  • Maintain license and continuing education in accordance with state, federal, and regulatory agencies' rules and regulations.
  • Ability to relate to the public in a professional and courteous manner, understanding the objectives of the organization, regardless of racial, ethnic, religion, sexual orientation, gender, mental/physical health, age, economic status, etc.
  • Familiarity with and ability to use specialized ancillary equipment.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations in a calm and appropriate fashion.
  • The above knowledge, skills and abilities may be demonstrated by successful completion of an ARRT accredited Radiologic Technology and MRI program; completion of accredited ARMRIT program and appropriate registrations and/or certifications.
  • Possesses and utilizes excellent customer service skills, strong written and verbal communications skills, and other medical related skills/knowledge.
  • Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to interact effectively with doctors, patients, vendors, peers, staff and management.
