Location: Indianapolis, IN

The Program Director will provide direction, organization, creativity, and strategy regarding the music, talent, promotions and production necessary to produce a marketable and sellable radio station.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and supervises all on-air programming and production.

  • Meets with programming and sales staff to brainstorm, plan and execute marketing, promotions and image campaigns

  • Evaluates programming available from distributors, syndications, and independent producers to recommend acquisitions for broadcast

  • Prepares and performs on-air shifts, remotes and appearances as required

  • Develops and coaches on-air staff by performing air checks

  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Auditions and hires talent

  • Monitors and evaluates music selected on the station

  • Schedules staff for on-air shifts, remotes, and appearances

  • Prepares budget for the programming department

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Must be a creative thinker and possess a high level of people skills. Ability to be multi-tasked, flexible, and work long hours, including some weekends, evenings and holidays.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to operate a mixer board, remote and satellite equipment,

  • Directly supervises employees in the programming department in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

  • Lead interviewing, hiring process and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance reviews for direct reports; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Ability to define problems, assess data, and interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred; five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
