Quinn Consulting Services, Inc. is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Chantilly, VA

Description

As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for providing support to the VP of Finance & Accounting and assisting with the maintenance of financial records, tracking the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

Requirements

  • Performs journal entries.
  • Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  • Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
  • Maintains the general ledger.
  • Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
  • Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
  • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
  • Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Assist with the retention, tracking, preparation, and submission of project related documents, reports, and correspondence.

Competencies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are to be determined.

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field, required.
  • At least three years of related experience required.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Functional computer usage including familiarity with Microsoft office suite software.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)

Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
