Qualified Staffing is Hiring a Strategic Sourcing Specialist Near Grand Rapids, MI
Our client in the Grand Rapids area is looking for a highly motivated Strategic Sourcing Specialist to assist their company in creating strong relationships with suppliers and maintaining existing ones. Responsible for supporting engineering and purchasing representatives through procurement initiatives in the areas of machine parts sourcing (domestically and internationally).
Job Type: Direct Hire
Job Status: Full Time, Exempt
Pay: DOE/Negotiable
Qualifications:
- 5-8 years of procurement experience preferred with at least 2 years of experience developing and executing sourcing strategies with domestic and international suppliers.
- Familiarity with CNC processing equipment used in the wood industry would be a plus.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing desired.
- Must possess strong problem-solving skills and exercise good judgment in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, cost management and writing skills.
- Computer proficiency with MS Office suite.
- Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong technical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Find outsourcing alternatives (domestically and internationally) for machine parts used on specialized CNC processing equipment.
- Implement sourcing strategies that improve lead times, quality and reduce costs.
- Follow established purchasing procedures and communicate with vendors regarding order follow up and order expediting when routine procedures are not producing the desired results.
- Monitor supplier performance and phase out poor performing suppliers in collaboration with the Purchasing and Logistics Manager.
- Work closely with engineering and quality representatives in sourcing projects.
- Prepare analytical summaries regarding sourcing activity.
