JOB TITLE: Preconstruction Estimating Manager
The Preconstruction Estimating Manager is responsible for leading the preconstruction team and mentoring team members’ technical and project estimating capabilities. Assist sales team with business operations via maintaining and fostering strong relationships with select customers, assist sales team members’ technical and project estimating capabilities.
Preconstruction Services:
Preconstruction/Estimating personnel will report to the Preconstruction Estimating Manager.
Active mentorship and training of our existing Pre-Con and HVAC Solutions teams to include input on design parameters, value engineering, and approach.
Provide specific project technical guidance to include optimal equipment selection, piping, duct design, and overall consulting on select proposals.
Attend job walks and site visits for select customers or in support of various pre- construction services proposals/projects.
Cooperate and communicate effectively with managers, Sales & Pre-Con Staff, operations persons, and other administrative team members.
Solicit subcontractor and/or supplier information & pricing.
Prepare conceptual budgets based on minimal information.
Reviews general conditions, schedules, scopes of work, hoisting plans, site logistics and other exhibits as required.
Prepare RFQ, RFP, IFB, ITB, and other bid packages as required.
Provides technical assistance from an engineering standpoint for D-B and P&S projects.
Build effective relationships with customers, design teams, specialty contractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support the company’s core values and meets or exceeds the customer's expectations.
Provide needed information to other departments and management to ensure jobs are completed on time, within budget, contractually compliant [Cooperative Purchasing], and fulfilling customer expectations.
Complete Quality Assurance analysis on projects to prevent call backs and warranty work.
Attend weekly Sales/Pre-Con Coordination and High Risk Meetings as required.
Provide support for technically challenging projects via coordination within Pre-Con, sales, estimators, and engineers to implement and complete the project.
Periodically assist the Preconstruction Services Manager and Sales Manager on specific management systems, recruiting of key personnel, management of outside sub- contractors, and other functions.
Sales and Marketing:
Foster and build positive customer relationships with a select number of organizations via frequent visits and interactions with all levels of organizational facilities decision makers.
Prepare and present professional and highly accurate proposals that provide clear technical solutions [wetside and dryside], financial viability, and overall cost savings.
Understand select client services needs and requirements ensuring timely response to all requirements [Service and Operations].
Attend periodic marketing events, conferences, and trade shows to promote company capabilities and foster customer relationships.
Develop a working knowledge of all existing cooperative purchasing and organizational specific contracts and other procurement tools to maximize efficient project delivery.
Communicate customer perceptions by gathering customer feedback and sharing information with project/field managers and sales team.
Initiate new projects with architects, engineers, owners, and general contractors.
Assist in the sales process as needed to include initial customer introductions or various meetings to propose a specific project.
Other:
Key resource to maintain and enhance quality across all existing lines of business.
Provide vital input to management as needed to assess and recommend expansion into new lines of business.
Furnish specialized mentorship and guidance to designated areas of the business and personnel as requested by management.
Continuing Development:
Research and maintain technological excellence in the HVAC trade.
Initiate suggestions for company-wide process improvements.
Initiate development program to train and enhance the abilities of all team members.
Lead sessions with team members to enhance the productivity and processes of the company.
Lead meetings with team members to ensure entire team understands the expectations of
company goals.
