Dept: Agency Administration

Position Function: Provide oversight on all psychiatric treatment medically necessary for all levels of care from residential to outpatient and for the quality of services rendered. Provide supervision to all psychiatrists and doctoral-level psychologists. Assist in program development and implementation.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Graduate of accredited allopathic or osteopathic school of medicine
  • Holds board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry with a minimum of three years of experience managing a psychiatric team
  • Licensed to practice in the state of Pennsylvania

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated professional commitment to providing services to medically under-served persons
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Computer literate in office management software including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Demonstrated professional commitment to providing services to medically underserved persons

Essential Job Functions:

  • Serve as a member of the Senior Management Team.
  • Be responsible for direct supervision of psychiatrists and psychologists, both employees and contractors. Set direction for their areas of responsibility to align with overall clinical division goals.
  • Be responsible for directing all providers in the practice of quality care according to standards and benchmarks set by CVCA, licensing boards, and funding agencies. Perform due diligence in matters related to clinical practice in full compliance with the medical licensing board and other regulatory agencies.
  • Be responsible for establishing systems of accountability for all providers to include productivity benchmarks, performance measures and controls, and clinical quality assurance.
  • Document clinical protocols in a manner that can be easily understood and followed by clinical staff.
  • Perform hands-on training of new and developing clinical practices based in regulatory or best practices.
  • Ensure medical services and operations are in compliance with all applicable regulatory and licensing agencies. Assess all matters of clinical compliance and provide timely recommendations for corrective action and quality improvement.
  • Participate in recruitment of qualified clinical staff including interviewing candidates and making hiring recommendations. Assist with orientation process to ensure consistency in training of clinical providers.
  • Establish and maintain working and collaborative relationships with regulatory agencies and other providers in the community on behalf of CVCA.
  • Provide leadership, vision, and direction in developing new medical service delivery areas. Monitor and evaluate programs revising and adapting as necessary or appropriate. Assist in formulation or revision of medical/clinical services policies and protocols.
  • Provide overall direction and coordination of continuing medical education, training, and support for health personnel. Collaborate with clinical services for clinical meetings. Assist in medical decision making as requested or prudent.
  • Participate in the strategic planning process.
  • Attend Senior Management, Quarterly Management, and Board of Directors meetings.
  • Provide additional assistance as requested or appropriate to ensure the ongoing success of CVCA.

Work Environment and Primary Work Locations:

  • Position is based at CVCA’s Orchard Office (administrative office).
  • The Medical Director frequently commutes to various CVCA sites.

  • Adequate vision, sight, speech, and hearing to meet core duties of the position
  • Ability to reach, stoop, walk and run
