PSI Molded Plastics Indiana Inc is Hiring a Material Handler - 3rd Shift Near South Bend, IN

Summary/Objective:

The Material Handler is responsible for the preparation and delivery of raw materials for production and maintains material corridors/staging areas. While performing the duties of the position, Material Handlers are responsible for maintaining a high degree of quality, safety, and efficiency.


Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Coordinates flow of stock from production floor to warehouse/staging area and movements of material from staging area to the production floor.
  • Move and scan material to storage locations.
  • Review 12 hr. staging report to identify materials required by work center.
  • Ensure material inventories are maintained for uninterrupted operation.
  • Ensure proper material transfer/changeover and clean out of material dryers, loader/mixer hoppers so as to not contaminate material.
  • Proper set-up and use of auxiliary material handling equipment (dryers, dispensing hoppers, etc.).
  • Accurate record keeping of all material transactions for press startup, replenishment, and press turnovers/end of run.
  • Clear production line of material inventory no longer in use (Line Clearance).
  • Monitors dryers to ensure effectiveness.
  • Ensures regrind percentages match bill of material specifications prior to distribution to production.
  • Operating equipment to move material via manual pallet jack and/or forklift.
  • Using computer to enter data and print labels.
  • Ensure all labels are correct according to the work order information.
  • Follow all work instructions and quality control documentation.
  • Perform daily forklift inspections.
  • May be required to grind parts and prepare labels to properly identify regrind material.
  • Maintains an open line of communication to assure all problems and changes are communicated and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the housekeeping of the injection molding machine area and surrounding areas as defined in the department procedures.
  • As requested, assist other team members in cross-training and conduct on the job training of other associates.
  • Actively participates in Continuous Improvement teams and activities, including 6S, and safety.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Education and experience required for the role.

1. High School diploma or equivalent, preferred.

  • Previous experience working in injection molding or manufacturing, required.
  • Knowledge of computers and scanning equipment, preferred.
  • Must be punctual and dependable.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently.
