Protein Metrics Inc. (PMI) is seeking an experienced software engineer to join a world class team of software engineers and scientists, enabling data analysis for major biopharma and life science researchers.

You will join a high-growth, energetic, scientific software company providing software for better analysis of complex laboratory data. Our software is used globally by the top pharma and biotech companies in order to improve their products and accelerate the development pipeline of biologic therapeutics.

You will be responsible for designing, architecting, and implementing data management and analysis applications and algorithms. You will have the opportunity to build innovative, enterprise-scale, Cloud and client/server based software systems with big, global impact in advancing data analytics in life sciences.

Position can be partly working from home from wider San Francisco Bay Area - must be legally eligible to work in the US.

Responsibilities

Architecture and Design

 Lead design and implementation of scientific data analysis and visualization pipelines.

 Drive innovative, modular, and scalable design and development of data science applications.

 Create data science tools to enable PMI’s customers gain deep insight from analyzing datasets across a spectrum of data types, such as mass spectrometry and proteomics.

 Drive the creation of intuitive data analytics functionalities and seamless UI/UX to optimize adoption.

 Lead and mentor software engineers in scientific application design and development.

Software Development and Process

 Perform full-stack solution design and hands-on coding.

 Ensure high code quality through automated and rigorous unit tests, code reviews, and adhering to coding standards.

 Participate in Agile ceremonies, including Sprint planning, Backlog grooming, and routine stand-ups.

 Work with cross-functional teams, marketing, sales, and contractors across the globe to ensure high-quality product delivery and maintenance for PMI customers.

 Create and update technical specifications and design documentation.

Qualifications

 PhD (or equivalent experience) in computer science, data science, computational biology, or a related field.

 Experience with scientific software design and development.

 5 years of experience developing web-based software applications (React, Redux, JavaScript, CSS).

 Cloud-based software development and architecture experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

 Experience with server and backend development (NodeJS, Express, database design, scalability, robustness)

 Experience with object-oriented design and programming (C or C#).

 Data Science and Machine Learning experience.

 Agile software development experience.

 Passionate, professional, good communicator, own your work, make a

difference.

 Relevant domain experience in mass spectrometry, or a scientific field such as proteomics, genomics, biology, or biochemistry is highly desired.
