Promise is Hiring a Remote Product Strategist

Company Overview:

Promise helps utilities and government agencies create flexible and affordable solutions for customers struggling to pay off their debt. Our intuitive approach to payment plans and relief distribution leads to increased customer enrollment and recovery rates that are far higher than the industry standard. As a result, customers pay off debt sooner and with fewer penalties, and our partners reduce delinquencies and increase revenue.

The Promise team strives to treat people who are struggling with dignity and provide them with the tools and resources they need to succeed. Our expertise spans sectors: we are technology experts from companies like Google, Stripe, and Palantir, as well as accomplished government leaders. We have raised over $50 million and we’re backed by leading investors such as Kapor Capital, XYZ Ventures, Bronze Investments, First Round Capital, Y Combinator, The General Partnership (formerly Sweat Equity Ventures), Howard Schultz, and others. We're proud to have recently been chosen as one of Fast Company's "World's Most Innovative Companies of 2022."

Role Overview:

The product strategist works with governments to understand the affordability problems facing their constituents and designs product-based solutions to solve those problems. The product strategist deeply understands the government and the Promise product and is committed to working with both to solve the problems facing low-income residents.

As a product strategist, you will be an integral part of a dynamic and innovative team including engineers, analysts, and product managers working together to implement software solutions that bring dignity and relief to underserved communities. Your primary goal is to develop a comprehensive understanding of the affordability problems facing our customers and their constituents and deploy high-impact solutions.

You’ll fully immerse yourself in the challenges facing our customers, collaborate closely with their teams, and provide data-driven solutions. This role requires a curious and analytical mindset, a keen sense of intuition for product, and a devotion to results-based, iterative problem-solving.

What You’ll Do:

  • Meet with customers to understand the affordability programs they offer, the customers they serve, and propose new programs and solutions.
  • Define and track success metrics with customers. Ensure that product solutions optimize success metrics.
  • Identify opportunities for product experimentation and the development of new affordability programs and products.
  • Collaborate with engineers to deploy and extend Promise’s offering and advance customer goals.
  • Identify opportunities to expand Promise’s footprint within and adjacent to customer engagements.
  • Collaborate with the product team to ensure product growth is aligned with identified business needs.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure that engagement meets customer goals.

You’re a great fit for the role if you:

  • Are motivated to make government work better for its constituents.
  • Have a background consulting with or working for government agencies.
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
  • Have strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Feel comfortable analyzing data with computer software.
  • Have a strong work ethic and are self-directed: you don’t need to be told what to do next.
  • Are able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Are adaptive and introspective; willing to learn, teach, lead and follow.
  • Are an excellent communicator, both written and verbal, including an ability to translate learnings into content for slide or written presentations.
  • Can travel 10-25% of the time.
