Job Summary

The Mental Health Therapist will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team in the Mental Health Hub with screening for clients who are in need of mental health services. The therapist will provide individual counseling and mental health workshops designed to equip and empower runaway and homeless youth with the necessary skills and supports, so that they may work towards overcoming any emotional and or behavioral barriers to ending their homelessness.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Complete diagnostic assessments, and screen prospective clients for the YDIC Mental Health Hub.
• Provide trauma-focused interventions and client-centered advocacy ongoing. 
• Provide ongoing individual, group, and/or family counseling as applicable.
• Conduct psycho-educational, recreational, and pro-social life skill workshops for the Mental Health Hub
• Enter accurate and timely progress notes for all individual sessions and workshops in the AWARDS database
• Actively participate in case planning and case review meetings. 
• Participate in weekly supervision, group supervision, and ongoing training.
• Practice within the scope and adherence of any evidence-based model utilized when treating consumers
• Perform other duties as requested

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work, mental health counseling, or other relevant license eligible behavioral science degree required.
• LMSW, LMHC ( preferred) or other license to provide assessment, diagnosis, and psychotherapeutic intervention in the State of New York (limited permit accepted).
• At least two years of experience working with youths.
• Experience with Evidence-Based Models is preferred.
• Strong organizational, planning and analytical skills.
• Effective communicator with excellent writing and speaking skills.
• Proficiency in Spanish preferred
