We're seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for our client to drive innovative solutions and ensure operational excellence. The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management to guarantee peak systems and infrastructure availability. This role will involve leading complex projects, designing solutions, and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with client Security Team members.
• Contribute to the client's change control process.
• Create and maintain hardening documentation in the central repository, task trackers, and plan of action/mitigation documentation.
• Perform standard hardening configurations to applications to include but not limited to Apache, Exchange, IIS, Remote Desktop Services, SQL, SharePoint, Tomcat, Web Application Proxy, or other applications that the client requires to support business operations.
• Performing standard Windows Operating System Environments (“OSE”) hardening configurations.
• Aid in performing standard Linux OSE hardening configurations using approved bash scripts, approved Linux-based tools, and manual configurations as necessary.
• Remediate identified compliance issues or vulnerabilities findings from reporting published by CISA, MSRC, or other reporting agencies.
• Assist in resolving identified compliance issues or vulnerability findings from reporting developed internally by scanning applications such as Qualys or other scanners.
• Assist internal teams and subject matter experts in troubleshooting issues brought on by hardening or remediation efforts.
• Partner with the client DevSecOps team in identifying and developing any potential automation of hardening and remediation tasks.
• Regularly participate in client security team meetings and standups.

Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related field; or equivalent background and experience
• 5 years of hands-on Systems Engineering experience
• Working proficiency with DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, Active Directory
• Experience patching BIOS and updating firmware drivers
• Patch Management and troubleshooting experience within Windows Desktop, Windows Server, and Linux
• PowerShell scripting
• Experience with automation frameworks
• Competency with registry merges, and manual configuration
• Familiarity with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and Center for Internet Security (CIS) Benchmark Standards
• Experience developing design diagrams and technical documentation relating to system configuration, processes and service records
• Proven track record in systems planning, security principles, and software management best practices
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrated history working in team-oriented and collaborative work environments
