What You'll Do

Principal is hiring for a Sr. Associate, Public Relations to serve the needs of the Benefits and Protection business and enterprise partners by supporting the strategic development, production, and distribution of a variety of communications that improve brand messaging, tells a Principal story, and support high-level enterprise strategy and business objectives.

Other things you’ll do:

• Write and edit a variety of communications materials including talking points, emails, media releases and pitches, social media posts, articles, and presentations on industry and Principal-specific topics.
• Consult and assist communications strategy leaders and business partners in developing and refining messaging and delivery to specific audience and communications channels to improve impact and effectiveness, producing and/or supporting communications plans as needed.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the team and organization to ensure consistent, integrated messaging and execution on issues that matter most to our brand, our business, and our partners.
• Measure the effectiveness of communications, providing counsel where adjustment may be needed. Produce data-driven reports to advance strategic decision-making.

Who You Are

• Bachelor's degree or 8 years work experience.
• 3 years work experience in writing, internal communications, PR, or marketing
• Experience in media relations, corporate public relations and/or agency experience preferred.
• Experience writing and editing all forms for a variety of audiences, including for social and digital platforms
• Adaptable, flexible and able to handle changing priorities
• Proven project management and organizational capabilities with the ability to meet deadlines
• Experience working in variety of content production and publishing programs, including Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop, Word, and Excel
• Presentation, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills, along with strong basic analytical skills
• Maintain a high degree of confidentiality

Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)
$71250 - $95950 / year
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek) in the Des Moines, IA office.
