POSITION SUMMARY:

The Design Manager will serve as a Mentor and Leader for the Design group within PRE’s internal Engineering team and facilitate mentorship, guidance and training for new and existing team members, organize for the team’s workflow and project allocation, and also provide a feedback channel to company leadership. He/She is responsible for the team’s development, calculation, implementation, preparation and revision of Utility scale & Distributed Generation photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Storage system designs for proposal level efforts as well as detailed designs for construction purposes.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and configure CAD systems, processes, and standards for compliance and ensure standard operating procedures are followed.
• Supervise Designers and train them to design in accordance with PRE’s construction means and methods.
• Work closely with other Leaders in Estimating, Procurement, and Business Development to align team’s efforts with client’s needs while balancing team resources & bandwidth.
• Oversee resource allocation of Designer’s to achieve tight deadlines for multiple projects.
• Ensure team is collaborating with Internal Electrical, Civil, Survey, Structural, EOR Services, SCADA, and Performance engineering teams to achieve required design standards and project design.
• Work with Operations to facilitate feedback on designs based on real-time construction experience to improve deliverables produced by the team.
• As necessary, audit drawings produced by the team for completeness and accuracy.
• Maintain database of design records & historical data for future reference.
• Improve upon deliverables like the take-off workbook and other tools used by the team to increase team efficiency.
• Develop a QA/QC program to ensure accuracy of team deliverables.
• Develop training program for new hires to ensure they become proficient in a timely manner.
• Align with company’s goals, vision and mission and create the environment within the team that will align with it.
• Travel may be required as requested by Supervisor. Possessing a valid passport/visa is required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• B.S. Degree in Engineering or a related Professional Degree Program
• Minimum of 6 to 8 years of experience in CAD Design
• Preference given for experience in Construction, Solar, BESS, Renewable Energy, or Power Generation.
• Organizational, communication (written & verbal) and Leadership skills are required.
• Communicates effectively verbally and in writing.

• Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Visio.
• Effective communication (oral, written, presentation), motivation, and supervisory skills.
• Familiar with various equipment (modules, racking, inverters, etc.) for proper design and installation of solar projects.
