Internal Controls Auditor

Job Location McKinley Packaging Company Corporate – Dallas, TX

Description Summary:

This position is responsible for design and continued development of McKinley Paper Company’s internal control process.

Job Duties/ Including but not limited to:

  • Assist the development, implementation, and maintenance of internal controls/processes to ensure business units compliance with Corporate SOX requirements as well as McKinley’s Code of Ethics, policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Assist internal control initiatives across the Packaging division as a technical resource on all matters, including development, refinement, and documentation.
  • Conduct risk assessments of key accounts and processes and determine the annual audit scope, including coordinating with internal and external auditors.
  • Identify projects to ensure continuous improvement and standardization of processes and related controls, coaching business partners on identifying and understanding opportunities for improvement and determining actions necessary.
  • Monitor evolving business environment for changes that may impact the company’s internal controls.
  • Collaborate with all Risk & Controls process partners and act as an advisor to senior management for interpreting, analyzing, using, and effectively responding to compliance information.
  • Develop and maintain a close working relationship with the Division and Department Managers to ensure effective, efficient, and compliant business processes, annual action plans and metrics for the Packaging Division.
  • Support the Division’s annual Ethics & Compliance Risk Assessment in coordination with the Business Risk Management process.
  • Deliver targeted communications on the Internal Controls Program to the Divisions.
  • Ensure the timely completion of any applicable remediation plans to correct the issues identified through the course of any audits, assessments, or investigations.
  • Support the implementation of Enterprise policies and procedures.
  • Develop relationships with the appropriate departments and business partners to ensure clear and effective implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Design, develop, implement, monitor, and report compliance metrics to demonstrate Ethics & Compliance Program effectiveness within the Division.
  • Serve as a key contact, where appropriate, for Corporate Compliance Audits and Assessments.
  • Set the tone on communications and play a key role delivering risk & controls learning needs such as Anti-Fraud within the business unit.
  • Lead cross-functional meetings between internal audit, IT, and business leadership to establish annual objectives, provide periodic updates on status, and resolve conflicting perspectives.
  • Manage administration and periodic review of Schedule of Executive Authority, validating completeness of the schedule and appropriateness of approval limits established.
  • Manage periodic review of potential segregation of duties conflicts.
  • Contribute content for reports to senior leaders, division and department leaders as required.
  • Participate in process-partner projects to improve overall compliance as well as culture alignment with Our Values in Action.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities for providing transparent transactional processes to increase the likelihood of consistent ethical behavior of employees at all levels.

Qualifications

  • Top candidates will be credentialed - Certified Public Accountant and/or Certified Management Accountant
  • Candidate must have experience in the manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Audit, Risk Management, Business, or a related field
  • Incumbents have usually gained at least 3 years of relevant experience and are able to perform complex assignments
