IT- Technician I

General Position Summary:

To be trained in all areas and aspects of the IT Department. The IT Technician will become proficient in: specification, acquisition, installation, and maintenance of the computer hardware, network and software services in addition to all non-CSO computer related operations on the TLS system.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist in PC support as needed while utilizing the technical support desk with guidance from the IT Tech II, Supervisor, Network Administrator, or IT Manager
  • Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (monitors, printers, etc.)
  • Supports the daily operation of the computer network on all PME devices
  • Install, update, and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications
  • Applies strict administrative and organizational controls to ensure continuous error free data
  • Troubleshoot hardware to determine whether equipment should be repaired and/or replaced
  • Support telecommunications and other associated peripherals (phones, printers, copiers, faxes, and all other IT supported devices)
  • Ensure documentation of support solutions are recorded in both the Help Desk and Knowledge base software

Secondary Functions:

  • Complies with Class III TLS Internal Controls responsibilities
  • Monitors computer network, reports any anomalies to IT Management personnel
  • Assists A/V Techs as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:

High School diploma or GED required. Associates of Arts Degree or equivalent from a 2 yr. college or technical school desired. Must becomputer literate with knowledge of PC’s, PC networking, and Windows Operating Systems. A , Net or equivalent certification preferred. Windows networking skills are essential.

Job Conditions:

Working conditions include working in a small confined space with other personnel for extended periods of time. Employees will work in a smoke-filled environment. Other conditions will also include frequent interruptions, the IT department is 24x7x365 and can require working evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call.

Physical Requirements:

Manual and finger dexterity needed for operation of personal computers, and routine paperwork. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time. Must be able to work in a smoking environment.
