Polk County Clerk of Courts is Hiring a Support Specialist - Criminal Intake Near Bartow, FL

Essential Attributes:

  • Maintain a high standard relating to professional conduct and behavior.
  • Work cooperatively with other employees of the work unit and embrace a teamwork approach to completing tasks.
Essential Tasks:
  • Scan, index, and perform data entry of motions, orders, correspondence, court verification form, notices, no bills, nolle prosequi and other legal documents within Article V standards.
  • Process extradition paperwork for the State Attorney’s Office.
  • Report information to MECOM with FDLE.
  • Index and perform data entry of e-filed documents withing Article V standards.
  • Update each case in the case maintenance system (CMS) according to department procedures, technical requirements of the Office of the State Courts Administrator’s (OSCA) Summary Reporting System (SRS) and Offender Based Transaction System (OBTS), and the Traffic Citation Accounting Transmission System (TCATS) when applicable.
  • Distribute copies of documents to the appropriate parties by mail, e-service, or courier.
  • Perform routine redaction of any confidential information pursuant to Florida Rules of General Practice and Judicial Administration 2.420 and 2.423.
  • Perform bond discharges as needed.
  • Electronically file documents for the Department of Corrections through the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal as needed.
  • Being able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Skills/Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a lead team member with other employees in the work unit.
  • Ability to communicate well with people from varied backgrounds.
  • Ability to research resource materials and multi-task as needed.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage work to meet multiple necessary deadlines and workload.
  • Ability to accurately type 35 WPM.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and to remain calm in an anxious, intense environment.
  • Ability to operate a PC and/or mainframe-based systems.
  • Technically proficient in computer and technical skills required to perform this position.
  • Ability to cover work of other employees to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Ability to remain flexible as conditions change and continue effective performance in the face of additional challenges.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of Florida statutes.
  • This position requires a six-month training period for new employees.
  • External candidates will be subject to an NCIC background check, drug screen and physical exam.
