About the Role

We’re looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer (“SSE”) to join PPUP Tech Team. As the Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for software development and design of applications, use case design in creating solutions and improving quality of software products. This role demonstrates expertise in a variety of development technologies including Node.js Server-side API development, SQL and NoSQL databases, Serverless architecture with AWS Dev Ops Infrastructure-integration, and QA practices, concepts and procedures, including object-oriented languages such as C#.

You will rely on extensive judgment and wide-ranging experience to plan and accomplish goals with PPUP engineering team, and you will also perform consultation on complex projects, apply expertise in leading and coordinating others across multiple concurrent projects with complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires both broad and in-depth evaluation of variable factors. As an SSE, you are sought out for guidance regarding methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. You will work directly with the VP of Engineering as well as the Enterprise Solutions Architect to develop implementation patterns, templates, and documentation to be used by the solutions teams, design of APIs (Node.js serverless) that support a good developer experience, meet performance requirements, and support 3rd party integration with our services.

Main Responsibilities:

• Build and ship software at scale to deliver impact.
• Participate in architectural decisions and implementations across the engineering department.
• Participate in cross team/cross functional discussions and drive alignment on product/technology strategy; act as a domain expert to influence technology choices
• Lead by example to build a culture of craftsmanship and innovation.
• Participate in estimating, designing, developing to verify the functionality, accuracy, and efficiency of complex developed or enhanced software applications across multiple concurrent projects
• Participate in the sub-disciplines of software and systems engineering, including requirement development, product design, software estimation, software design, software construction (coding), software test, and performing software maintenance; provide guidance to junior team members regarding functionality, efficacy and quality.
• Interact with management and architecture to understand issues that may arise around development and leads research in order to provide solutions which add, modify, or enhance the solution.
• Conducts Code Reviews, analyses for conformance to plans and specifications making recommendations based on the results.
• Specialize in multiple complex areas of PPUP Product Technologies
• Provide input to Software Engineering and Test processes and procedures; incorporates broader test strategy into project workflow process.
• Help others to meet or exceed standards for the quality and timeliness of their work (e.g., automated tests, test plans and cases).
• Maintain close liaison with other departments on technical matters and works closely with vendors or customers on issues relating to PPUP products; acts as a development expert in project team meetings, and accurately communicates results.
• Keeps technically abreast of trends and advancements related to PPUP products and incorporating these improvements into the overall development process and anticipating their application in future projects; actively supports others to increase technical knowledge through research, training and peer support.
• Make improvements in the methodologies used for configuration management and software development

Required Education & Experience:

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 7 years of professional software development experience.
• Expertise with service-oriented and cloud event driven software architecture
• Proficiency in working with Node.js and serverless architecture, SQL
• Proficiency in working with AWS lambda, SNS, SQS, S3, Dynamo, AWS Aurora, ElastiCache and Redis, ParameterStore, SecretsManager, Cognito, CloudWatch and other AWS, or similarly (competitive cloud providers) related service constructs
• Previous experience and the ability to work with a broad range of technologies such as NodeJS, .NET/C#
• Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery process (CICD)
• Experience using GitHub, POSTMAN
• Experience with secure programming practices, software delivery and cloud security principles
