Senior Security Engineer

Summary:

Point Broadband is looking for an energetic and results oriented Senior Security Engineer. This role will be responsible for application security testing and consulting, vulnerability management, cyber security engineering & administration of designated cyber security systems and processes. Collaborates with IT support staff and management to fulfill the role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:

• Identifies cyber security technical and process areas for improvement, identifies and remediates security deficiencies, and reports findings to the Information Security team
• Leads Network and Application Security Testing
• Leads Static Code Analysis, Dynamic Web Application security scanning
• Knowledgeable of offensive security testing techniques and tools
• Assists in selection, design, build, deployment and support of cyber security technology and processes
• Documents procedures to maintain and manage security controls, and maintains / updates documentation for assigned security controls
• Reviews and establishes security standards and procedures
• Assists with administering security policies, standards, and procedures
• Adheres to Change Control processes and observes SLAs
• Manages Identification of compliance and vulnerability risks and facilitates remediation tasks
• Maintains current and relevant knowledge of common host, network, and security protocols
• Communicates with other departments to report and resolve infrastructure issues
• Collects and analyzes data utilization information to provide improvements and gain efficiencies
• Determines migration and upgrade impacts and diagnoses/resolves complex technology/application errors
• Ensures relevant cyber security services and systems are achieved with 24x7 service operation uptime
• Assists in the process for vulnerability and patch management ensuring they are compatible with the company's business needs and strategic objectives
• Continuously evaluates, designs, and implements security solutions to improve the confidentiality, integrity and/or availability of the firm’s intellectual property and systems
• Partner with the internal team and business on forward-thinking security policies and procedures as needed

Qualifications:

• Must be very technical, hands-on, well-rounded in the information security space
• Experience with well-known vulnerability management technologies
• Experience operating network/application security tools in a mid-sized to large provider
• Advanced understanding of OS and Network security best practices and strategies
• Vulnerability Management skills are preferred
• Problem Solving - identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions
• Customer Service - responds promptly to customer needs
• In-depth knowledge of Windows and Linux security best practices
• Network concepts and advanced working skills with various network technologies

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor of Science or Applied Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or seven years military and/or Electrical Engineering experience
• 6 years of work experience in a hands-on technical role demonstrating expert knowledge in design and engineering of IT and cyber security systems
• Must have proven experience in design and turn-up of multi-gigabit transport networks
• Proven experience with MPLS and commercial networks and the various components included
• Proven network design and implementation experience with OSPF, IS-IS, BGP and switching expertise
• Extensive network engineering and architecture experience - excellent understanding of Internet and datacenter topologies
• Experience evaluating, configuring, and troubleshooting a variety of network equipment especially Ericsson, Juniper, Ciena, Calix and Alcatel-Lucent/Nokia - solid understanding of associated vendor hardware architecture and characteristics
• Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills and a customer-centric attitude
• 7 years of Service Provider network experience
