Overall Objectives of Position
The Intervention Services Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of comprehensive therapeutic programs and services that address student behaviors and academic deficiencies. This job description is not an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of this position. The Intervention Services Coordinator is expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the applicable programs.
The Intervention Services Coordinator is expected to live the Purpose and Values of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and will go beyond the call of duty.
Primary Responsibilities of the Intervention Services Coordinator
  • Attends and serves as a member of the therapeutic team helping families navigate the education and behavioral health system, and helps coordinate communication between therapists, social workers, medical personnel and educators.
  • Monitoring and supporting teachers, childcare workers, BGC Counselors etc. by implementing classroom management protocols to create a safe and supportive environment.
  • Provides direct client care for children in 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.
  • Works with families of children with special needs and/or social adjustment needs in order to bring about positive change.
  • Assists parents and teachers with diversified strategies and activities designed for targeted students.
  • Collect, record, and summarize data on observable student behavior.
  • Effectively communicates with parents and caregivers regarding student progress.
  • Maintains and acquires technical knowledge by attending required trainings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate person.
Day-to-day Responsibilities
  • Works as directed with identified students to adopt behaviors that substantially increase their academic performance.
  • Assists with preparation of materials necessary for ABA services.
  • Assists with assessments (FBA’s) weekly protocol, planning, parent training, and staff meetings.
  • Directs one-on-one behavioral interventions to teach communication, social, and daily living skills and reduce problematic behaviors for students.
  • Helps parents in the student behavior intervention plan process and empower parents by providing them with skills and techniques to support the positive behavioral development of their child.
  • Promotes highly specialized positive behavior interventions in which at risk students thrive.
Education/License/Certification and Experience Requirements
  • Associates Degree required.
  • Must possess a Registered Behavior Technician certification or must complete this certification within the first six (6) months of employment.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with children with problem behaviors or special needs in a paid work setting.
  • Must possess “Mandatory Reporter Certification” or obtain within the first week of employment.
  • Must possess and maintain First Aid/CPR certification or obtain within ninety (90) days of employment.

Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and an insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.
  • Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
  • Ability to adequately and successfully perform all duties and responsibilities of this position.
