P & M Steel Company is a custom steel fabricator with over 50 years in the Sioux Falls area seeking a Yard Operator to join our team. The Inventory Yard Operator position controls material in inventory under the supervision and direction of the Shop Supervisor.

Wages $17-19 per hour depending on experience

Monday through Friday, 10 hour day shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Unloads vendor trucks
• Receives and verifies material from the material receiving checklist.
• Completes required procedure to report any defective and incorrect materials.
• Places material in correct location.
• Turns in receiving documentation on a timely basis
• Coordinates with machine operators to retrieve material for fabrication needs.
• Verifies material for accuracy prior to placing on rollers.
• Communicates progress status and material needs to Shop Supervisor.
• Detects and reports questionable conditions to the Shop Supervisor.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance from Shop Supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing related experience, preferred.
• Attention to Detail
• This position is performed in outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Education

• High School diploma or Equivalent, required.
