The Yard Operator position moves and loads material under the supervision and direction of the Shop Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

The number one responsibility of the Yard Operator is to maintain inventory material in efficient and safe manner. This includes:

• Unloads vendor trucks
• Receives and verifies material from vendor bill of lading and completes rebar receiving sheet.
• Completes required procedure to report any defective and incorrect materials.
• Places material in correct location.
• Turns in receiving documentation on a timely basis
• Coordinates with Fabrication Supervisor regarding material movement needs.
• Verifies, scans and loads fabricated material for transportation.
• Secures and straps loads for safe transportation.
• Maintains an organized laydown area
• Communicates material needs to Shop Supervisor.
• Communicates progress status for shipment to Shop Supervisor.
• Safely operate hoist/cranes and proper rigging for moving materials
• Detects and reports questionable conditions to the Shop Supervisor.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance from Shop Supervisor.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or Equivalent, required
• Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing related experience, preferred.
• Successfully operate crane hoist, required.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations. This position is performed in outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold. Noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Requirements

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
