Position Overview

The Benefits Specialist will support the day-to-day operations of the company’s benefit programs (health, vision, dental, short-term & long-term disability, life insurance, accidental plans, HSA, FSA, and the 401K retirement plan) for all U.S. based employees.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • The role has a primary focus on benefits with some responsibilities related to FMLA, LOA, STD/LTD, and ADA.
  • Support day to day operations of benefit programs (health, vision, dental, short-term & long-term disability, life insurance, travel and accidental plan, HSA, 403 (b) plan and retirement plan)
  • Develop programs and reports to ensure accurate and timely administration of assigned benefits plan.
  • Provides input regarding plan design and administrative processes for strategic initiatives.
  • Keep assigned plans in full compliance with benefit and plan regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and complete premium and contribution calculations and collections, expense allocation and tracking and various other benefits billings. Resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure systems are in place to ensure accurate enrollment of employees into the Company's various benefit plans.
  • Resolution of complaints and concerns from active, terminated, and retired employees and outside sources regarding benefit plans, and company policies and procedures. Research information needed to resolve disputes and inquiries fairly in a timely manner.
  • Establishes and maintains active, terminated, and retired employee files for benefit plans. Processes changes to employees' information as required.
  • Audits computerized data bases with employee information, revised calculations, and benefit plan changes. Resolves issues as they arise and provides correct information.
  • Resolves problems/disputes between employees (active, retired and terminated) and various vendors. Ensures quality customer service is maintained.
  • Ensures compliance with governmental regulations and departmental objectives by communicating with plan participants in a timely manner.
  • Reviewing vendor invoices, resolving disputes, and reporting on fees and costs, and processing for payment by required deadlines.
  • Assisting employees by explaining benefits: This includes contact with each new hire to ensure information is provided and critical enrollment deadlines are not missed.
  • Assist with the coordination of leave requests to include FMLA.
  • Assist with Benefits Open Enrollment and New Employee Orientation (NEO)
  • Administration of Benefit Programs.
  • Be accessible to answer employee questions and to provide advice to managers as well as employees.

Qualifications, Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or other related business discipline.
  • 4-6 years of experience in benefits administration minimum.
  • Knowledge of employee benefit laws and compliance related to employee benefits, and knowledge of pension and retirement plan administration.
  • Familiarity with employer sponsored benefit plans and incentives.
  • Perceptive with great attention to detail to ensure accuracy in processing, analyzing, auditing, and reviewing data.
  • Able to handle confidential and proprietary information appropriately.
  • Demonstrated ability to assimilate myriad plan details and sort through them to optimize benefits for individuals.
  • Ability to recognize potential risks or problems and suggest various options leading to solutions.
  • Possesses ability to synthesize information quickly and summarize conclusions and recommendations.
  • Ability to think strategically and translate concepts into actionable items.
  • Strong communication skills; can effectively present to all levels of the organization.
  • Courage to make tough decisions and deliver difficult messages with professionalism and poise.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous business situations.
  • Ability to develop credible relationships with business partners and leaders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have the adaptability and resilience to balance both short-term and long-term priorities.
  • Experience with HR Information Systems (i.e., ADP) and MS Office Suite required.
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated with ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Proven project management, time management, and conflict management/resolution skills.
  • Creative, strategic, and innovative thinker.
  • Self-starter capable of operating independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective internal and external communication skills.
  • Ability to consistently meet all deadlines set.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or other related business discipline.
  • SHRM or PHR Certification(s), preferred, but not required.
  • Bilingual – Spanish, strongly preferred, but not required.

Travel Requirements:

  • Estimated travel is >15-20%, mainly surrounding Open Enrollment yearly.

Company Information and Disclaimer

Working Conditions:

Normal office environment setting or may be exposed to noise if working in or around a production area. Schedule is Monday through Friday, normal business hours. Constantly required to sit, use hands, talk, and hear. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Position Location:

Position is onsite Monday through Friday (8AM-5PM) and not remote eligible. Only under special circumstance(s) will the person be allowed to work remotely and with express written consent of senior leadership.

Compensation:

Compensation for this position will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications, aligning with industry standards. The salary range for Dallas, TX, is also based upon geographical market standards for the industry and position in those areas.

There is a possibility of a bonus(es) based on individual performance and merit to be paid at the sole discretion of the company, but bonus(es) are not guaranteed unless outlined in writing in the offer letter extended to the candidate selected for the position.
