Planet DDS is committed to creating value for its dental practice clients by solving the most urgent challenges facing today’s dental practices in North America.Our B2B SaaS company is seeking a Revenue Accounting Manager to support our accounting and financial operations. As the Revenue Accounting Manager, this person is a detail-oriented and strategic individual that will lead our revenue accounting function, focusing on revenue reporting, collections, billing/invoicing, and operational streamlining. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on our financial processes and contribute to the growth of our company. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to lead and plan, and the ability to work well in a team environment. This position will report directly to the Controller and work closely with other members of the accounting team.JOB DUTIES:
  • Revenue Reporting:
    • Develop and maintain accurate and timely revenue recognition policies in accordance with ASC 606 standards.
    • Responsible for developing and maintaining revenue accounting policies and procedures.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Finance, Customer Success (CX), and Legal, to ensure alignment on revenue recognition principles.
    • Generate regular revenue reports and provide insightful analysis to support business decisions.
  • Billing/Invoicing:
    • Oversee the billing and invoicing process, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Implement best practices for invoicing and collections, including automation where applicable.
    • Work closely with Sales and CX to optimize the quote-to-cash process.
  • Collections:
    • Manage the end-to-end collections process, ensuring timely and efficient collection of accounts receivable.
    • Develop and implement strategies to reduce outstanding receivables and minimize bad debt risk.
    • Collaborate with Sales and CX teams to address customer billing issues and facilitate prompt dispute resolution.
  •  Streamlining Operations:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency within the revenue accounting function.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement system enhancements and automation tools.
    • Proactively address challenges related to revenue recognition and collections, proposing innovative solutions.
    • Review compliance and controls to ensure team is adhering to best practices.
  • Management of Billing and Collection Team
    • Review and direct the work of billing and collection staff
    • Train and mentor employees within the group and department
    • Review and approve requested billing credits
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred, but not required
  • 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally having spent time in a public accounting or Big 4 firm
  • 2 years of managing an accounting team
  • Ability to understand existing processes with a nose towards optimization and streamlining
  • Understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with financial software systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or equivalent systems
  • Experience in SaaS or technology industry preferred
  • Experience with ASC 606
