Data Center Manager to join our team. This is a remote position, however candidates are preferred based in Washington D.C. Metro area.
Project Description: This initiative is designed to support the Information Technology mission of the Defense Health Agency (DHA). The program will deliver a range of services encompassing Cybersecurity, Information Systems Operations, Desktop Support, Mobile Technology Services, Infrastructure Services, Information Systems Development and Modernization, as well as Web Services Development, Management, and Support.
Key Roles/Responsibilities: Data Center Operations:
- Operate, maintain, and perform sustaining engineering tasks for a Data Center and associated systems.
- Execute responsibilities related to the day-to-day functioning of a Data Center infrastructure.
Installation and Enhancement:
- Design, procure, and install new cabling, equipment, hardware, and software to extend or enhance existing services.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of infrastructure through strategic installations.
Configuration Control and Design:
- Provide configuration control and design expertise for systems.
- Create and maintain installation and system interface drawings to ensure accurate documentation.
Access Control and Security:
- Implement and maintain access control procedures to safeguard the integrity of a Data Center.
- Uphold security measures to protect data and systems.
System Monitoring and Maintenance:
- Operate, maintain, and monitor systems, performing tasks such as initializations, upgrades, backups, recoveries, and storage management.
- Ensure the reliability and performance of production systems.
Facility Requirements Management:
- Assist in determining and managing facility requirements, including space allocation and assessments of power and heat loads.
- Contribute to efficient resource utilization within a Data Center.
Acceptance Testing:
- Develop and implement acceptance testing procedures for the installation of hardware systems, subsystems, components, peripherals, and interfaces.
- Ensure that newly installed components meet performance standards.
Efficiency Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
- Monitor system and subsystem efficiency, conducting troubleshooting and tuning as necessary.
- Address issues promptly to maintain optimal system performance.
Computer Operations:
- Conduct day-to-day computer operations for multi-user hardware systems.
- Support the processing of various online and batch applications and schedules.
Service Consolidation:
- Support the consolidation of services, including planning, testing, license management, capacity planning, and installation of computer systems hardware and software.
- Ensure a streamlined and efficient IT infrastructure.
Capability Integration and Implementation:
- Plan, engineer, integrate, and implement new capabilities and features.
- Optimize and standardize workloads, meeting customer requirements and accommodating changes in technology.
Minimum Qualifications: - Minimum of 6 years of experience in overseeing datacenter operations in a DoD environment
- DoD 8570 IAT Level 3 certification
