What you’ll do:

 Manage financial planning and analysis function for Pinnacol. Partner with leaders throughout Pinnacol and subsidiaries to produce budget and financial plan and analyze results.

What you can expect:

  • Lead annual financial planning process and operating budget process for executive and Board of Director approval
  • Manage team/department reporting, analyze results and make recommendations to

Management

  • Prepare and report budget v actual analysis on a monthly basis
  • Prepare variance analysis reports covering balance sheet and income statement to support financial statement audits
  • Prepare relevant Board and Risk & Audit Committee presentations 
  • Present and/or explain financial results to internal customer and management team 
  • Collaborate across departments to gain insight into financial performance and analyze results 
  • Build, maintain, and improve financial models to support business needs and strategic objectives
  • Model scenarios including supporting annual stress testing and evaluation of strategic opportunities
  • Coordinate and align budgeting and financial planning processes between Pinnacol and its subsidiaries 
  • Administer employee incentive comp program including reviewing periodic reporting, ensuring payouts are accurate and timely, and evaluating/implementing program changes 
  • Evaluate budgeting and financial planning software and make recommendations to finance leadership. Lead implementation with approval
  • Create, implement and maintain effective performance feedback process for direct reports by establishing clear goals and expectations including adherence to standard work; hold direct reports accountable for results 
  • Provide leadership, direction, coaching and development of direct reports creating a high performance team and culture of open communication; promote teamwork and cooperation within team and throughout organization 
  • Assist management in implementing team operational strategies to achieve financial and business objectives
  • Lead or serve on Finance department steering committees/project teams as requested
  • Assist external reporting team with financial statement audit requests as needed
  • Supervise and review work of direct report(s)
  • Continue to improve processes related to regular activities 
  • Maintain all relevant controls related to job duties 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you need to be successful:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred. Relevant work experience (similar kind of work at a similar level of work as described in the essential duties) may be substituted for the bachelor's degree. Completion of a degree is encouraged and supported. Seven years of accounting/finance experience required with an emphasis on insurance strongly preferred. Must have strong attention to detail and ability to perform analysis and strong written and oral skills. Must be able to manage priorities and meet deadlines.

Work environment:

Regular attendance required. Extensive telephone and computer work in an office environment.

The compensation amount for this role is targeted at $131,000-$138,000. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including your experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
