POSITION SUMMARY:
Specializes in the diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment of patients with diseases of the blood vessels outside the heart and brain. The Vascular Surgeon will act as an expert in the diagnosis and preoperative, operative and postoperative treatment of diseases and injuries of the vascular system.
Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Identifies need for tests or follow-up visits. Reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. May provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. The Vascular Surgeon coordinates a course of treatment for patients with a variety of vascular issues while working with an inter-disciplinary team of nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, dieticians, hospitalists, radiologists, pathologists and pharmacists.
May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations.
