POSITION SUMMARY:

In this role, you will have the exciting opportunity to work with our breeding science team in planning and analysis of experiments, trials, and product development. You will work closely with research science, manufacturing, marketing, and our cultivation partners in project execution and transfer of key information, enabling the success of each project. A successful candidate will bring a passion for organization, collaboration, and attention to details, along with a love of the plant.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads the coordination, organization, and project management for breeding projects.
  • Serves as the single point of contact to interface with our departments to coordinate and align project activities between groups, principally with the cultivation, research science, manufacturing, and marketing teams.
  • Ensures projects adhere to project plans, established frameworks and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project.
  • Works with team leads to ensure project plans are communicated and deadlines are met.
  • Primary contact for third party breeding software and leads implementation and documentation of breeding records.
  • Ensures accurate recording and data entry for field/greenhouse mapping, tagging and recording of seedlings, trials, and selections.
  • Develops and writes SOPs and other documentation for breeding and trial workflows, including large scale greenhouse projects.
  • Supports greenhouse and field management operations, such as sowing, tissue sampling, transplanting, harvesting, etc. as needed.
  • Interfaces with the cultivation team to optimize operational workflows for greenhouse/field work.
  • Works with the breeding team to develop, prepare, and present reports for each breeding project and advancement cycle.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • M.S. in horticulture, agricultural, or natural sciences; or B.S. degree with 3 years commercial experience.
  • Minimum of three years experience with plant breeding projects and/or project coordination required. Cannabis experience in research is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills, database management, and project management software. Experience working in Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications. Additional experience with Phenome and Smartsheets is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and devotion to accurately follow established protocols.
  • Passion for developing processes to maintain organization in projects.
  • Strong understanding of spreadsheet functionality and manipulation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to present and exchange information.
  • Aptitude for project management and collaboration.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Prioritize work within established guidelines and follow through on a variety of requests.
  • Effectively troubleshoot and identify solutions in dynamic situations.
  • Knowledge of ability to follow typical phytosanitation protocols.
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines.
  • Valid driver license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle is required.
  • A valid OLCC Worker Permit and any other permit or license legally mandated for working with cannabis required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

  • Must be able to work in a greenhouse or cultivation environment, which includes standing for long periods of time, reaching and bending, and traversing over ground that may be unimproved.
  • Environment may be hot, loud, and bright.
  • Work is performed either in a greenhouse setting or office/home office (50/50).
  • Sit/stand for long periods of time, lift/carry 25 lbs, climb, crawl, reach, squat, etc.
  • Wear a lab coat, respirator as needed.
  • High frequency of computer keyboarding, high frequency of viewing a computer monitor.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $71,000.00 per year
