Job Overview: As a Pharmacy Technician, you will work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to perform duties related to the dispensing of prescription medications and providing excellent customer service to patients. Your responsibilities will include preparing medications, assisting with inventory management, processing insurance claims, and maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Dispensing Medications: Accurately and efficiently fill prescriptions by measuring, packaging, labeling, and dispensing medications under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Customer Service: Provide friendly and professional customer service to patients, answer questions about medications, and assist with inquiries related to prescriptions and over-the-counter products.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with inventory control by monitoring stock levels, restocking medications and supplies, and ensuring proper storage conditions for pharmaceutical products.
  • Prescription Processing: Enter prescription information into the pharmacy computer system, verify patient information, and process insurance claims for prescription medications.
  • Compounding Medications: Prepare compounded medications according to established procedures and under the direction of a pharmacist, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintaining Records: Keep accurate records of prescription transactions, patient information, and controlled substances in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform quality control checks on dispensed medications, including verifying dosage accuracy, expiration dates, and proper labeling.
  • Adherence to Regulations: Adhere to pharmacy laws and regulations, including HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy, and maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding patient information.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of pharmacy technician training.
  • State certification or licensure as a pharmacy technician.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
  • Proficiency in computer skills and familiarity with pharmacy software systems.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and medical terminology.
  • Fluent in Spanish or Creole preferred
