Full Job Description

Pet Dermatology Partners is a veterinary dermatology clinic in Seattle, WA and we are looking for an experienced veterinary assistant/receptionist to join our small team. This would be a hybrid role, working as a combination of assistant and receptionist and rotating tasks with two other coworkers in the same position. We are open Monday to Thursday 9am to 6pm.

As a member of our team, you will be actively involved in coordinating client arrivals at our hospital, answering the phone, and speaking to clients for scheduling purposes. You will also be expected to discuss diagnostic results and treatment recommendations with clients. There will also be shared housekeeping responsibilities. You will be the first face a client sees at our practice – a friendly, enthusiastic attitude is crucial. Demonstrating kindness and empathy are an important part of your job. You will assist in patient examinations, diagnostics collection, medical procedures, and filling prescriptions on a rotating basis. Candidates must be able to cover all shifts and have reliable transportation to our hospital. Previous experience in specialty medicine is preferred, but not required – we look forward to teaching you about the exciting world of veterinary dermatology! What we do require is a strong desire to learn and to participate in a positive and collaborative culture.

We understand that a healthy work-life balance is critical to your long-term success and growth as a professional. This is a full-time position, 10 hours per day for four days per week (Monday through Thursday). This position will not require on-call, late evenings, or weekend coverage, though occasional overtime may occur, for which you will be compensated.

Our compensation package includes a competitive salary, a signing bonus, employer paid health/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), and paid time off.

Responsibilities include:

· Enthusiasm and friendliness when interacting with clients in-person and on the phone

· Demonstrating empathy and understanding during client interactions

· Willingness to quickly learn how to use the veterinary software necessary for your job – we will teach you what you need to know

· Client check-in upon arrival at the hospital

· Client communication for appointment scheduling, client questions, and labwork results

· Inputting new patient information and questionnaires correctly into the veterinary software

· Communication with referring veterinarians for patient records

· Payment collection during patient check-out

· Assisting in cleaning examination rooms and the lobby after appointments

· Safely restraining and handling dogs and cats

· Assisting in patient examinations, sedation/anesthesia monitoring, diagnostics collection

Successful Candidates Will Have:

· Exceptional communication skills – Clear, respectful, empathetic communication with clients and team members is crucial

· Comfort with a fully computerized, paperless practice

· The ability and desire to work independently and responsibly – you will spend at least part of some days at the front desk by yourself

· Dedication to providing excellent, friendly service for every client and patient

· Be able to stand, sit, kneel, stoop, or bend for extended periods of time

· Be able to lift patients or inventory up to 35lb

Schedule:

· Monday to Thursday work schedule

· Typical start time: 8:30am

· Typical end time: 6:30pm

· 30 minute scheduled mid-day lunch break

· Two 15 minute breaks (one morning, one afternoon)

· Overtime pay provided
