Peraton is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Chantilly, VA to support our Department of Defense (DoD) customer as part of a highly talented team. As part of the team, the individual will support an exciting program which involves a very talented, highly motivated, high-performing, multi-industry team overseeing space command and control portfolio management, data architecture, multi-level security and engineering, cyber security, and user support functions that incorporate the Agile development process. Job Description:

• The individual will work closely with a DoD customer, industry partners, and various stakeholders throughout the system/software lifecycle in development, integration & test, deployment, and operations of a highly sophisticated enterprise-level command and control architecture
• All work and day to day activities will be conducted in an Agile tempo work environment in alignment with the organization being supported
• The individual will work with a team of developers known as External Interfaces, by assisting in the creation of an on-boarding guide so that tenants can be enabled to have required access to data sources in support of mission
• The individual will help define strategic level best practices and guidelines for mission-critical software architecture and testing activities for multiple capability development groups (CDG)
• The individual will assist in providing data source POCs to CDGs as needed
• The individual will help the team define and manage Enterprise prioritization of data sources to be onboarded into the Data Exchange (DX) service
• Identify, assess, and implement improvements to onboarding process
• Individual will participate in development activities related to various technology areas
• Support the onboarding CDGs identified by Systems Integration-Onboarding Tech Area by refining data requirements based on existing data in SCDC Dx
• Provide data source POCs to CDGs as needed
• Guide CDGs through data onboarding process
• Define and manage Enterprise prioritization of data sources to be onboarded into SCDC
• Monitor and track progress of external data source onboarding
• Identify, assess, and implement improvements to onboarding process

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• The individual must have an active Top Secret/SCI clearance
• The individual must hold a bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
• The individual must have 8 years of experience in a Systems/Software engineering related field
• The individual must have experience with the Agile/DevSecOps process & CI/CD process automation, portfolio management, and Atlassian agile tools
• Architecting software
• Experience with one or more of the following: 

• Java, Python, JavaScript
• XML, JSON, Avro, Protobuf
• C#, C , MATLAB

• Familiarity with software version and build automation tools GIT, Maven, and Jenkins
• Experience with REST, GraphQL, ActiveMQ, ZeroMQ, Kafka
• Experience and/or use of Prometheus, Grafana, ICDs development
• Data orchestration/transmission/processing; data feed provenance
• Cross Domain Solutions for processing, data, and networking
• Quality assurance & testing; discrepancy management/resolution
• Serverless, ML/AI, No-code/Low-code
• The individual must have experience with virtualization/ cloud-based technologies (e.g., OpenStack, Citrix XenServer Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, and/or VMWare), Kubernetes/Docker Containers, Ansible, and Heat templates
• The individual should be able to express themselves confidently, concisely, and accurately through written and oral communications
• The individual should have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, management, and DoD/IC stakeholders
• Effective in both a team environment and an individual contributor role
• Firm knowledge in engineering principals and troubleshooting
• The individual should be detail/process oriented, can multi-task, and can work with minimal supervision
• Experience managing ontologies and data schemas 
• Experience managing data lineages and provenance 
• Experience with data security 
• Familiarity with data analysis and data science processes 

Desired Qualifications:

• Cybersecurity solutions and Risk Management Framework (RMF)
• Have experience working in an Agile Scrum team environment

• Experience or familiarity with the following:
  • Jira: Plan view and road map planning 3-6 months of milestones 
  • Agile: Scrum teams and Kanban, Sprint planning concepts

• Have experience collaborating with external developers and integrating their components into a larger framework
• Have experience with multiple phases of the systems/software development life cycle
• Have experience with one or more of the following preferably in a satellite ground system context: Object-oriented development practices and processes, open architecture systems, distributed computing technologies, web services, SOA, networking technologies, requirements management tools, scripting, automated test tools, modeling, and simulation, and/or security certification and accreditation processes
• Experience with Palantir DaaS platforms
• Familiarity with Cross Domain Solutions for processing, data, and networking; managing data sets that span multiple classification levels
