PeopleTec is Hiring a Remote Lead Network Engineer

Responsibilities

PeopleTec is currently seeking a Lead Networking Engineer to support our Huntsville, Alabama location.

As a Lead Network Engineer, you will lead a 2–3-person team in the design, support, installation, and maintenance of our customer’s network infrastructure, related technologies, and equipment. As the lead for this team, you will be responsible for providing direction and recommendations regarding network configurations and installations as well as configuring or upgrading network components.

In addition, you will coordinate network changes and communicate with impacted stakeholders, perform project work to install, update and/or replace network equipment and troubleshoot complex network connectivity issues. Although this is team lead position it is a technical hands-on position in which you will work on and maintain hardware components as needed, including firewalls, load balancers, routers, switches. Finally, you will also mentor and support your team and other associates in daily tasks and troubleshooting and work with other teams where appropriate to assist in the resolution of infrastructure-related problems.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Design and implement new network solutions and/ or improve the efficiency of current networks. In coordination with other members of the team.
  • Design network architectures, creates network diagrams, establishes new circuits.
  • Perform a variety of operational, analytical, planning, and related tasks with duties concentrated in installing, configuring, maintaining and securing the network and associated devices.
  • Configure, document, test, troubleshoot, create, and/or modifies network documentation related to the internal test network, to include firewalls (Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet) routers and switches for training exercises. Able to troubleshoot TCP/IP, multicast and UDP network traffic flows as well as tunneling encryption devices.
  • Responsible for applying system updates and quarterly patches/IAVAs, SRG/STIGS, configuring access control lists, analyzes, tests, and/or modifies network devices, and software programs, to provide pertinent solutions to system users, based on and related to user or system design specifications.
  • Responsible for planning, development, and execution of encrypted network connections to outside entities in support of constructive simulation exercises. Provide timely reaction, troubleshooting and resolution to any network related issues that arise.
  • Monitor network performance and perform scheduled backups and recovery testing as necessary.
  • Participate in After Action Reviews and maintain documentation for best practices.
  • Reviews and updates network requirements for accuracy, and compliance with applicable doctrine.
  • Experience in a Hybrid Cloud environment.
  • Participates in special projects as required.
  • Have the ability to work independently with minimum supervision and the ability to manage a team.
  • Travel: 25%
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Desired Skills:

  • Certifications REQUIRED: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent, as well as a DoD 8570.O1M IAT Level III certification.
  • 10-15 years of hands-on experience with LAN and WAN networking.
  • Additional Requirements include lifting and bending as required to support equipment installation.
  • Occasional travel in support of the contract
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
