Description

This position starts June 17th through August 16th with a week of training June 3-7th 5pm-9pm. 

The schedule is up to 40 hours per week and may rotate between the hours of 7:30am-5:30pm

The pay is $18/hour, if you obtain your lifeguard certification, you'll receive an additional $1/hour.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Supervises a group of children.
2. Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
3. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
4. Attends staff meetings and trainings.
5. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
6. Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. 
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Previous experience working with children in a day camp setting, preferred.
2. Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, arts/crafts, etc…
3. At least 16 years of age (The age minimum may be higher depending on state law and YMCA policies.)
4. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
