POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant position is responsible for performing analysis and reconciliations of accounts to support financial reporting. The position involves tight deadlines and accounting responsibilities including general ledger maintenance, and supporting periodic bank, tax, and annual audits. The position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills as it involves interaction with the management team as well as operations personnel. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Staff Accountant will report to the Accounting Supervisor, and work with members of the accounting and finance team, and with team members of other departments. Responsibilities:

• Perform account reconciliations to support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
• Develop an in-depth understanding of financial accounting procedures and general ledger structure using Syspro software.
• Coordinate and participate in periodic counts of Company inventory.
• Perform daily banking functions. 
• Research the treatment of non-routine transactions and application of GAAP.
• Account reconciliations. 
• Document and reconcile Journal Entries.
• Account analysis / Trend analysis.
• Process documentation – flowchart (Visio) and narrative.
• Support budget, forecasting and cash forecasting and management activities.
• Support accounting team in special projects and identify areas for workflow process improvement.
• All other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Minimum of 2-3years’ progressively responsible experience in financial accounting and reporting in a manufacturing environment
• Strong experience with MS office with demonstrated proficiency in Excel, Access, and Word
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and work to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Attentive, a good listener and ability to follow instructions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• BA/BS Degree in Business with an emphasis in accounting
• Preference will be given to candidates with CPA or CMA candidate. 
• Experience with General Ledger and MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.

PHYSICAL JOB DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

• May need a high level of concentration in a busy area.
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Office dress is business casual.
