Pearson is Hiring a Technical Project Manager Near Olympia, WA

The Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of managing projects (such as software development, information technology, infrastructure), analyzing business processes & workflow, identifying high-level business requirements, and developing schedules, ensuring successful development & implementation, and communicating with stakeholders at all levels. The PM will oversee the complete project life cycle from preliminary planning through project closing.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage projects working closely with partner delivery teams across the globe - France, Saudi Arabia, India etc.
  • Manage software development and business process analysis projects involving cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of a product or service
  • Develop and maintain project charters, detailed work plans, schedules, and risk registers appropriate for the scope and complexity of each project
  • Track the cross-functional team in the execution of the project. Provide positive leadership toward successful delivery with a focus on cost, schedule, scope, quality, and communication
  • Coordinate efforts of all cross-functional team members. Establish and maintain a highly cooperative environment and foster collaboration across all areas
  • Communicate status for assigned projects through written status reports and other communications as needed to stakeholders at all levels
  • Perform project risk assessment and implement risk mitigation plans
  • Maintain project artifacts throughout the project
  • Document high-level business requirements for projects as needed

Qualifications

  • In-depth understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as Jira, Trello, or Microsoft Project.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and ability to adapt processes to project requirements.
  • Track record of successfully managing complex development projects from initiation to delivery.
  • Resource allocation, task prioritization, and project budget management skills.
  • Work with other program/project managers to identify interdependencies, dependencies, risks, and opportunities across multiple transformation projects.
  • Work closely with project sponsor, cross-functional teams, and assigned project managers to develop the scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for new initiatives!
  • Demonstrated experience in managing relationships with external vendors and third-party partners.
  • Ability to assess and select vendors based on project requirements, negotiate contracts, and ensure deliverables meet quality standards.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills for effective collaboration with vendors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address issues and make timely decisions.
  • Proactive identification of potential project risks and development of mitigation strategies.
  • Proven leadership skills to motivate and guide cross-functional development teams.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to navigate challenges in a dynamic development environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing and enforcing project governance processes.
  • Implementation of effective project governance structures to ensure project success.
  • Ability to define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to project governance.
  • PMP certification is preferred.

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the Colorado, California, Washington State, New York State and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

The minimum full-time salary range is between $110k - $120k.
